Megan's Grandmother

Megan loved life from the beginning.  She loved to laugh.  She also let everyone know when she was unhappy about things in a very loud voice.  That was what made Megan special, she was a real person.

When my grandchildren were younger, I loved having them to all come and spend the night.  They would play so hard and even when Megan was little, the older ones never got the best of her.  There was a room for the girls and one for the boys but more often than not we put pallets on the living room floor so they could play until they would fall asleep.  Megan did not have a problem letting us know when things were not going the way that she thought they should. Those were  precious times.

Some of my fondest memories of Megan were the times that she would spend with me after her Grandpa died.  Megan loved her Grandpa very much and loved to remember him.  He liked  to listen to the Cathederal Quartet and made sure that all of his grandchildren got to see them in concert.  Megan and I would listen to the tapes of the Cathederals all of the way from Chandler to Henderson and all of the way back when I took her home.  She loved the song "Wedding Music" and sang every word. She would double up laughing everytime that she heard George Yonce sing "Inward Man."  I can still hear that laugh.  Megan loved life and it showed.

I had the opportunity to take Megan, Hillary and Justin on a medical mission trip to Mexico.  These trips are a lot of work and the conditions are not the best.  Megan got very sick and demanded that I take her home.  Once she got over the worst part of the sickness she became a real trouper.  Even though she felt terrible, she was determined to take part of as many of the things going on that she could.  When we came back across the border she yelled out "God bless America" and we all knew that she really meant it.

When Megan called me to tell me that Damon had died, I will always remember her saying that she knew that she would see him again in heaven.  Megan was very sure of her salvation as well as Damon's.

The Christmas before she died was a good one.  Megan loved the holidays and getting with her family.  She requested that I make "that chocolate stuff" (Triple layer dessert) and I did.  Megan would drop by my house with a "Hey Grandma, I'm here!"  I guess one the things that she did that I remember more than the others was her saying, "Grandma, you are so funny."  I love her so much and miss her tremendously.  As I said in the beginning, Megan was a real person, not perfect, but real.  She loved life and was so looking forward to that life that was ahead of her.

If you knew Megan, you were blest.  I love you Megan and I know that I will see you again one day.

Love, Grandma

Megan will never be forgotten and I loved and love her to this day. I will never forget the times we spent together with Crisa, Aaron, April and Hillary. She was taken too soon and will missed always. I thank God that He allowed for Megan to be my cousin and be in  my life for the time she was here.

Megan was such a special person.  She was always true to herself.  Her smile and laugh are what I remember most vividly.  They were so real.  You never had to guess how Megan was feeling or what she was thinking, so when she laughed, it would spread through everyone around her.  I remember growing up with my brothers and cousins.  Megan was a little ball of fire.  It seems like we all did everything together those days:  going to the swimming pool, playing outside, and going to Grandma's house.  We would have sleepovers on the living room floor, in Sheri's bed, or in a tent outside.  We didn't care where we were.  We just always had a lot of fun together.  After my family moved away from Chandler, we would still make special trips in one direction or another to visit.  One year I was able to help Sheri coach one of Megan's softball teams.  I am so glad I had that oppurtunity to spend that precious time with Megan.  As we all got older, we didn't see as much of each other.  When we did, it was like nothing had ever changed.  At Christmas each year all of us cousins would make our way to an empty part of the house to laugh together and talk about old times and how funny it was that some things never change.  I remember the last Christmas we all spent together.  It was the best, and I will always treasure it.  I guess it was just like any other Christmas, but it was the last time I saw Megan here on this Earth.  I am so glad to know that I will see her again one day.  I will see that smile and hear that crazy laugh again.  This world and our family are not the same without her, but I will remember her and have her in my heart always.  I love you Megan!

Megan was such a wonderful person and the best friend I ever had. When I think about her, it is mostly about her personality. She was so funny and had the best attitude about life. We had the most fun laughing with each other all night when would stay at her house...we never had a boring moment together. She use to come pick me up in the morning for school before I had a car and we would turn the music up so loud and then scream the words to the same songs every morning. I think that was our favorite think to do. And in school we always managed to get the same lunch...or rearranged our schedules so that we would. I had the best times in Jr. High and High school with her. She just made life so fun. There is so much to remember about her and I am glad that I have the memories of the time we shared together. When I was with Megan it was like she was my other half. We would talk about everything together. She understood me better than anyone else ever has. I was the shy, quiet friend and well...she wasn't quiet. We were pretty much always thinking the same thing but she was the one to say it. You always knew what was on her mind...that is what made her so great. When I went though tough times in my life she was there. It didn't matter what everyone else said or thought about me, Megan was there. She was such a strong, independent girl and always gave everyone a chance...no matter what. She didn't judge anyone and didn't know how anyone could. Now I know where she got it...her mom!! Sheri is a great person too and there was so much of her in Megan. Sheri, you have helped me though so much, thank you. Megan holds such a huge spot in my heart and even though I wish we could have spent more time together, laughed and talked more, I know she is in a better place and someday I will see her again. I miss her and everyday is hard without her, but I am such a better person for having known her. Even though I will never be the same without you, I have grown so much and I know you are proud of me. I love you, Megan.

Sheri, this website is a beautiful way to remember such a beautiful soul. Megan had the kind of heart that God only gives certain people and Megan knew her purpose on Earth. She spent her life giving people the chances that she believed everyone deserved, no matter what color their skin was and she brought joy to so many lives. My heart still breaks when I think of how her life was cut so short, but death didn't tear the pages all away- we just have to wait for the next chapter- and we will see her beautiful smile again. You guys mean so much to me and my family. I love you! -Ashley
