Megan Leann Holden Scholarship Endowment:
Tyler Junior College
The Megan LeAnn Holden Scholarship Endowment was created by Sheri Dunlap, Megan’s mother, to honor Megan’s life. Megan was born in Tyler, Texas at Mother Frances Hospital on September 24, 1985. She grew up in Chandler, Texas where she enjoyed playing softball and basketball. At age 13, her family moved to Henderson, and she played basketball for one more year. She graduated from Henderson High School and worked at the Snowflake Bakery in Henderson. Megan was a Christian and extremely family oriented. She was a wonderful daughter, sister and aunt. She lived each day as it came and was very comfortable wherever she was just being herself. She set many goals, and once she decided to attend college, she hoped to become a lawyer and do civil rights work. Because Megan's life was cut short and she didn't have a chance to complete her education, this scholarship has been established to enable another student to reach his or her educational goals.
Scholarship recipients are chosen annually from a pool of applicants who show a strong desire to attain a degree in higher education, who can describe in an essay why they are highly motivated to attain a college education, and who demonstrate financial need.
